Terms of Use

Last updated: June 6, 2026

Plain English summary: use Riffle lawfully, don't abuse it, and your data is yours. If something goes wrong, our liability is limited. Full details below.

Acceptance of terms

By downloading or using Riffle, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. These terms apply to all users of Riffle, including the iOS app and this website.

Riffle is operated by Riffle Labs LLC. Questions? Reach us at hello@riffle.run.

Your account

To use Riffle, you'll create an account using an email address or a Sign in with Apple or Google account. You are responsible for:

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 13, we will delete it.

What Riffle provides

Riffle provides tools to log fishing catches, record GPS trip routes, store photos, and review your fishing history. We provide the app on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We don't guarantee:

We strongly recommend exporting your data periodically using the CSV export in Settings as a personal backup.

Trip recording uses background location to keep logging your route when your phone is locked or you are using another app. Background location uses battery and cellular data; we recommend ending a trip from the Record tab when you finish fishing.

The photo import feature scans your photo library on your device using Apple's Vision framework to find photos that look like fish. The scan happens locally on your phone. Photos are only uploaded when you choose to save them to a catch.

Maps in Riffle are powered by Mapbox, with map data from OpenStreetMap and other open data providers. Full attribution is available in the app under Account → Map Attribution.

Some Riffle features rely on third-party services, including Firebase (Google), Mapbox, Apple WeatherKit, and Resend. Their availability and performance are outside our control. See our Privacy Policy for the full list and what data each one handles.

Your content

You own everything you put into Riffle: your catches, photos, routes, and notes. By using Riffle, you grant us a limited license to store and display that content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not claim ownership of your data and we do not use it for any other purpose.

You are responsible for the content you enter. Don't upload anything illegal, harmful, or that violates someone else's rights.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Subscriptions and payments

Riffle offers a free tier and an optional paid subscription (Riffle Pro). If you subscribe:

We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with reasonable advance notice.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your data and cannot be undone.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Riffle Labs LLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Riffle, including but not limited to loss of data, lost catches you forgot to log, or any reliance on GPS data for navigation in the field.

Our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of Riffle will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

Disclaimer of warranties

Riffle is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We don't warrant that the app will be error-free or that GPS data will be accurate.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Oregon.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you within the app and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.
